Planar Trinet Dynamics with Two Rewrite Rules
نویسنده
چکیده
A deterministic network mobile automaton is proposed for the creation of planar trivalent networks (trinets) based on the application of only two simple rewrite rules. The possible Brownian dynamics of the control point are enumerated and explored. A useful behavioral complexity indicator is introduced, called the revisit indicator, exposing a variety of emergent features, involving periodic, nested, and randomlike dynamics. Regular structures obtained include one-dimensional graphs, oscillating rings, and the two-dimensional hexagonal grid. In two cases only, out of over a thousand that were inspected, a remarkably fair, random-like revisit indicator is found, with trinets that exhibit a slow, square-root growth rate. Some properties of these surprising computations are investigated. Finally, one two-dimensional case is found that seems to be unique in the way regularity and randomness are mixed.

Complex Networks from Simple Rewrite Systems
Complex networks are all around us, and they can be generated by simple mechanisms. Understanding what kinds of networks can be produced by following simple rules is therefore of great importance. We investigate this issue by studying the dynamics of extremely simple systems where are ‘writer’ moves around a network, and modifies it in a way that depends upon the writer’s surroundings. Each ver...
متن کاملNumerical simulation of the fluid dynamics in a 3D spherical model of partially liquefied vitreous due to eye movements under planar interface conditions
Partially liquefied vitreous humor is a common physical and biochemical degenerative change in vitreous body which the liquid component gets separated from collagen fiber network and leads to form a region of liquefaction. The main objective of this research is to investigate how the oscillatory motions influence flow dynamics of partial vitreous liquefaction (PVL). So far computational fluid d...
متن کاملWelsh letter-to-sound rules: rewrite rules and two-level rules compared
In a text-to-speech synthesis system, input words not found in the system's lexicon are passed to letter-to-sound rules, which derive the word's pronunciation. In Welsh, the letter-to-sound rules must be applied in three passes: firstly, to add epenthetic vowels, secondly, to determine stress and vowel location, and thirdly, to perform grapheme-to-phoneme conversion. To begin with, all these le...
متن کاملKRAM—Extended Report
Term rewriting proved to be a simple, uniform and powerful computational paradigm. Rewrite rules independently match and apply anywhere, unconstrained by the context. Rewriting is particularly appealing for defining truly concurrent systems, since rewrite rules can apply in parallel. Unfortunately, there is an inherent impediment in using term rewriting for defining concurrent systems or progra...
